MISSION STATEMENT

Fencing access to all

The Atlanta Fencers’ Club Foundation Inc. was created out of a need to provide fencing in the inner-city of Atlanta while making fencing more equitable financially in order to serve those that are majority disadvantaged and without access. We provide quality structured programming at a below average or no cost.

We seek to increase diversity among fencers and fencing professionals by giving access to children who historically would not have the financial access to participate. We want to provide access to all regardless of income.

Who we collaborate with

Given the low cost of our fencing training and overall experiences for the children we serve and support, partnerships are essential to the longevity of our foundation.

FOUNDATION HISTORY

1977

The Atlanta Fencer’s Club is established in Southwest Atlanta by Gene Gettler following the Maître d’Armes going on to train fencers for 30+ years after.

2020

Gene Gettler retired amidst the COVID-19 pandemic and Atlanta Fencers’ Club shut down resulting in fencing club families being left without training resources, forcing them to join clubs located 1+ hours away.

2021

In September 2021, The Atlanta Fencers Club Foundation Inc. was established under Gene Gettler’s advisory & equipment donations After many families being stretched thin with limited financial resources to fulfill other fencing club memberships, fencing Mom, NLandu Kialeuka Tiya sought to find a solution.

PRESENT, 2024

The Atlanta Fencers Club is preparing to grow & scale to support new & existing fencers.
