Biaya Tiya

Co-Founder / Youth and Para Coach

Biaya Tiya has trained extensively in fencing, competing at the highest levels in both foil and épée as a member of the U.S. Cadet National Team and representing the United States in national and international competitions. He co-founded the Atlanta Fencers Club Foundation after his longtime coach, Gene Gettler, retired, with the mission of expanding access to fencing for inner-city youth and bridging the income gap in the sport by welcoming athletes of all backgrounds, regardless of race, religion, gender, or socioeconomic status.

Beyond competition, Biaya coaches young fencers and volunteers in programs that make fencing more accessible, including working with the Shepherd Center to train parafencers and the Peter Westbrook Foundation when in NYC.

In his spare time, he is a great supporter of children battling HIV and Cancer, while still making time for family and friends. Biaya is an A-rated fencer in both Foil and Épée.
